Manga Poirot Is A Real Thing
Whilst “researching” a recent article about Star Wars manga comics, I happened to stumble across a manga version of Poirot. I must admit, I was fairly surprised to find it. I can fully understand a manga remake of the action-packed sci-fi Star Wars, that makes sense, but Poirot?
Apparently three volumes of a Poirot manga adaptation TV series were released in 2004 and 2005 by NHK Publishing.
The Poirot adaptations were written by Yukiyoshi Oohashi and Syouji Yonemura, and illustrated by Morihiko Ishikawa. You can’t beat good old David Suchet, but his manga doppelganger sure is dashing. I imagine the murder scenes are slightly more brutal, and the dialogue a little less intelligent, but fair enough for having a crack at it.
