VIDEO - 550 Tonne Russian Military Hovercraft Disturbs Sunbathers

Firstly: thank you Russia for your constant stream of military surprises. You never disappoint. I genuinely appreciate it.

Today’s military surprise comes in the form of a 60m long, 500+ tonne military hovercraft. It recently landed on a busy beach on the Baltic coast. Apparently no one was injured, which is pretty amazing when you watch the footage.

The spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry informed the Russian newspaper – Komsomolskaya Pravda – that the hovercraft was on a tactical mission in an area owned by the military. He also said:

“What people were doing at the beach on the territory of a military (base) is unclear.”

However the newspaper comments that the actual designated military area is a few kilometers further up the beach. So it seems, in reality, that the military probably mucked it up good and proper and were way off their mark.

It certainly makes for an arresting scene though. Apparently, after the landing, a butt load of paratroopers got out and moved everyone on. Brilliant.
