Jonty Hurwitz effortlessly blends number crunching and aesthetics. Well, it doesn’t sound effortless really, there’s a lot of work that goes into making these amazing anamorphic sculptures. Months of ground work and a truck load of computer jazz all has to be right before these Alice in Wonderland freak pieces can be completed. Jonty, born in South Africa, now lives in London and divides his time between art and running his short loans company, Wonga.

Hurwitz scans his subject in, then digitally skews it using hardcore maths and a heavy use of that magic constant Pi. But the enjoyment inevitably comes down to a visceral sense of completion when the eye understands what’s happening. Check out the videos below to see what I mean.
