The Regional Flags Of Italy: A Glorious Collection

If you’ve visited LAZERHORSE.ORG before, you may have noticed that we have more than a passing interest in flags. I’m certainly no flag expert, but I know a good flag when I see one.

My favourite flags of the world post is, in fact, one of Lazer Horse’s most popular posts (I genuinely don’t know why, but long may it remain so). In an attempt to get flags the recognition they deserve I recently added some of the UK’s best regional flags to that particular article. I also covered a few of my favourite US State flags in a recent outing and, even better, the incredibly snazzy regional flags of Japan.

Today I am moving to Italy to showcase some of their more daring and beautiful regional flags and some flags of local autonomous regions.

Here we go, sit back, relax and enjoy these Italian beauties:

Abruzzo

Aosta

Basilicata

Calabria

Campania

Lazio

Liguria

Lombardy

Piedmont

Sardinia

Sicily

Trentino-South Tyrol

Tuscany

Umbria

Veneto

Below are some of Italy’s historical flags which are sadly no longer in use (when I say “sadly”, I don’t mean that I wish there was still a King of Tuscany to raise a flag for, or a “Duce of Fascism”, I just mean it’s a shame we won’t see their wonderful colours and shapes raised high). OK?:

Grand Duchy Of Tuscany 1569–1737

Kingdom of the Two Sicilies – 1738-1860

Royal Standard Of The King Of Italy 1880–1946

Head of Government and Duce of Fascism 1927-1943

Minister of the Regia Aereonautica – 1927-1943
