Are unicorns real? No. However, in the past, people weren’t so sure.
Naturalists have made some errors over the years. For instance, when Greek sailors found an elephant skull, they thought the trunk hole was an eye socket and called it a Cyclops.
People in history can be forgiven for their errors: There are many unusual beasts in this world, and a horse with a single horn isn’t unusual compared with a kangaroo, platypus, or manatee.
I’ve put together a small collection of historical unicorns for you to enjoy.
Sadly, today, unicorns are associated with children, fantasy dream worlds, and genuine nutters. Within the latter category lies someone called Diana Cooper, she believes in unicorns as spirit guides. Here’s some blurb from her website to give you some idea of the scope of her nonsense:
“Unicorns are pure white seventh dimensional horses who have returned to Earth for the first time since Atlantis to help us with our ascension. They are known as the purest of the pure and have qualities of love, peace, calm, gentleness, hope, majesty, caring, magic and mystery. They have spiraling horns of light which radiate from their foreheads, through which they give healing, joy and enlightenment. The light of a unicorn is so powerful that it enters you gradually, in waves, only ever as much as you can cope with at any time.”
