The Hunt For Doppelgangers By François Brunelle

Doppelganger – great word. François Brunelle, a Canadian photographer based in Montreal has spent the last few years on a rather odd but intriguing quest. He’s been on the look out for people that look like twins (who aren’t related), or at the very least, siblings.

His mission is to get 200 black and white photos of people who look related but aren’t at all, so he can publish them in a book. His project is called I’m Not A Look-Alike.

Brunelle‘s first few were accidental finds, but now he’s dished out the leg work to mother internet to get on with. He takes submissions from people who already have someone in mind that they look like. Apparently he gets a lot of interest from China, loads of people over there seem desperate to find someone to call their clone.

According to Brunelle, his Chinese contacts often write that they’re searching for their look-alike so that they have someone to relate to. That’s pretty sad really. It would be even sadder if they succeeded and found out that their look-alike was actually a complete git.
